Procol Harum wrote the fabulous, classic song in 1967. It is a song that will always remind me of growing up in very exciting times. Change was happening. Flower power was the message. It's still the message .....only now life is a lot more complicated than 1967. The pale flower has become streaked and crackled and ridged yet the urge to grow and thrive is strong. First of all, I love that song. Second of all, I think I should've come of age in the 60's. I'm sick of the age we live in - you're right, it's far too complicated.
Oh, I like that. The page jumped at me and I liked it.
Yes, life is more complicated than in 1967. But I love your line about being "streaked and crackled and ridged" yet still growing and thriving. Perhaps a reference to the wrinkles and bulges that have evaded those young bodies, yet still reaching. Enjoyed it.
I used to love that song! Haven't heard it for ages.
Procol Harum...gosh that brings back memories! I can still see myself dancing at the jr high prom...white dress with a dark green sash...cool guy (at least to a 14 yr old). Life was less complicated...but of course, we were so young we didn't notice how difficult it was for our parents and elder siblings.
This same year, my family and I went to San Francisco, to visit my oldest brother...stationed at Oakland Army Base. Big B and his wife took us all over the area...and to Haight/Ashbury. That was the day my dreaming and fascination with the Peace/Hippie movement ended. I saw people, not much older than me, walking around in drug-induced hazes, filth such as I had never before seen, and deep unhappiness...all in the name of Peace and Love. It certainly was not just the cool, psychedelic clothing and happiness we saw each week on Laugh In.

I love this....and more so I love finding a fellow artist! (smile) My studio is cold in the winter so even though I ache to paint...I sketch and draw and make plans, waiting for the ground to thaw...
