to old pirates.....

As I looked across at Elephant Mountain this morning, I spied a strange sight off the coast of these waters. I pulled out my eyeglass and had a closer look.  The vessel was flying the Jolly Roger so I knew that pirates were close by......  then again, pirates are always close by.  Our remote little community is full of alternative lifestyles and they come in all descriptions. There are very few suits or preppies in this area....but you can easily find the garb of a pirate anywhere. There are probably more tattoos and piercings per capita here than Somalian waters where the real pirates rule.  I always say, "You can be anybody you want to be in Nelson....nobody will mind or judge you for it." We're eclectic....and that's why I love living here. Let's raise a glass to old pirates. We've lost a few along the way. ......
