Every morning he goes to the market in Valadolid and sets up shop. He can't see very well but he knows his herbs, spices, and beans. He doesn't have a lot to sell but every day he makes enough. We bought cinnamon and pepper and with arthritic hands he put them in little bags. The little bags sit in my cupboard now and the spices are like rare treasures.......( now we know why they call it the heartland....)

lovely photos and lovely words- I like that- little treasures.
Aren't these the best ways to get our needs fulfilled? Knowing it's personal, a connection soulful touch?
This is why I love it so to go to the markets, or the road side farmsteads, the flea markets and the small shops around everywhere!
Lovely man!
wow. Great story. What an amazing man... very inspiring!
so glad he is making it, and that you were able to support his efforts. YAY!
I remember being mightily taken with the spice stands in Istanbul.
