clutter, clutter, clutter........

clutter, clutter, clutter.........packing up the big murals by D.Dan Moreslander should be interesting......
all of the small clutters are really exhausting.....
there were layers of stuff everywhere.....
all of our walls were covered in paintings.....Aghhhhhh!
I have a lot of Buddhas........maybe just one Buddha would do.......
I will actually use this handmade, yoga mat, as a yoga mat....rather than hang it on my wall......so enlightening....
our rock collection alone takes up a lot of space.....
I wonder when it happened. When I was a footloose, young hippie, several decades ago, I prided myself on my detachment from material possessions. I carried all I needed in my canvas rucksack. Now, as I pack up all of our belongings, I marvel at the amount of stuff I have collected.  I realize now, it was partly our art collection that was pushing in the walls of the rooms and making our house seem too small. Yet, I kept collecting art and somehow made room for it all. Now our house is totally bare except for practical things like chairs and kettles. All of the clutter has been packed up as we start to freshen up our home for resale. It feels marvelous to have such an uncomplicated space to live in. Liberating actually. Still, all that great art is going to look fabulous in our big, new home......... simply fabulous.....(some things never change....)

I have the same thoughts about how simply we lived "back in the day" and now....more stuff than we possibly need ....but I love it.
Speaking of love....your Buddha grouping is wonderful.

HI Dear Susan
Yes you could never part with all that beautiful art!! but stuff.. I know what you mean.. I've been downsizing for months and still going through it all.. really need to move somewhere new and the 'stuff' ain't coming with me!! It's true you feel liberated and relaxed without too many dust collectors..

Love that square painting in the 4th shot!!

Have fun with it all.. ciao xxx Julie [still laughing re your comment]

Yes, it happens to the best of us. Clutter and possessions.

Hello:
We are certainly of the Maximalist persuasion that more is even more. Your art collection will, we are sure, look wonderful in your new house.

I love moving house cos it means I never have time to collect much stuff - a theory that works well until I discovers I've collected far more than I thought I had! Good luck with the selling and the moving and the settling in!

hmm... sounds familiar.

my parents were also mineral/fossil hunting rockhounds in their hippie heyday. my sister & I grew up scarfing oodles of tilobites & geodes (& crinoids & paleozoic brachiopods) in southern Ohio & cenezoic megalodon teeth on the Potomac river.

... consequently we amassed a rock collection that would dwarf those of most museums.

thank you for your may 17 comment :-) click the 'art' tab in the labels column on my blog to see more of my work.

good luck with your move!

I think it comes to a point where you have to say enough is enough and get on with de-cluttering.

I am constantly de-cluttering it seems. Sometimes I want to walk away from it all and live somewhere plain.

I tried to comment on the post where you introduced us to your new gorgeous house, but my computer was whacky. It is lovely! Good luck packing!

Yes, let's hope all this de-cluttering works well for resale...you've seen the "staging" shows, no doubt!
