how did I miss this concert?.....

Joni Mitchell lived in a cave in Matala in 1970 and wrote the song, "Carey" about the village in Greece where three years later I cave dwelled as well. ( see last post ) She must have just written Carey when she played this concert in Vancouver at the PNE auditorium. I was 16 years old and living in Vancouver and somehow I missed this concert....I really can't believe it because Joni was and is my mentor..... huge influence.........

I love Joni Mitchell too -- neat story about the background to Carey!

Hello:
Joni Mitchell really was a woman for the times. She represented a bohemian freeom that most women of the day were only dreaming of. And, so talented. Yes, difficult to believe that every woman in Vancouver who was alive that day was not at the concert!

How have we not connected? I found you via a link on another blog. I'm the "wannabe" mermaid here in Ontario. Joni is my siren too. It's been over 30 years since I camped in Nelson, I still dream of it. Going through on our way to Shannon Lake. I love your paintings...nice to meet you, Dharma

I do not know about Joni Mitchell but it sounds like she was a legend.

Although I have never met you in person, I can totally see how Joanie could be your mentor.

Joni has inspired me for so long. Such an amazing person. I wish I could find more live performances of her. Joni and Laura, they will never have equals in all that they have done.

Joni Mitchell!! I couldn't get over when I saw this. I was born in 1976 to two nature-loving, free spirited parents. My musical tastes were obviously formed at a young age listening to their music. Joni Mitchell was with me when I lived alone in college. I remember eating my supper alone, but I was hanging out with Joni!

Yeah, you shouldn't have missed it. There are some things that one has to regret in live, aren't they? :-)

Joni Mitchell...

... my favorite album was always 'Ladies Of the Canyon' (with 'The Priest' being my favorite song in particular).

thank you for your June 4 comment.

for an interesting read look for 'The Tattooed Girl: The Enigma Of Steig Larsson And The Secrets Behind The Most Compelling Thrillers Of Our Time' by Dan Burstein, Arne De Keijzer & John-Henri Holmberg.

p.s. I wrote (& own the rights to) an (unrelated) grit-lit screenplay quasi-trilogy. the protagonist is a volcanic (but ultimately lovable) 'wild child' female ant-heroine.

... as a footnote I would add that the 1st screenplay draft predates 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' by more than 5 years...

... consequently I am always seeking out books & films of the same genre (everything from Daniel Woodrell's 'Winter's Bone' to Don Winslow's 'Savages', etc.)...

... with my latest discovery being Steig Larsson's super-cool 'Millenium Trilogy'. looking forward to the Ridley Scott-flavored Rooney Mara/Daniel Craig remakes...

visit again for new posts :-)
