I have not had a vegetable garden for years...It is AWESOME growing food!!
the ants like my artichoke too....
perfection.....
in the midst of rhubarb and squash. (and weeds!)....the lovely artichoke.....
I remember being so fascinated, many years ago, by seeing artichokes growing beside the roads on the island of Crete in Greece. It is a Mediterranean plant and most often grown in warmer climates. I found this perennial plant in our local greenhouse,....... then planted it in the corner by the rhubarb. I think the main flower is almost ready to eat....steamed with lemony garlic butter. I'll give it another week.....and plant more next year!
i am so envious - growing my own vegetables and eating artichokes are two of my favorites things...unfortunately i have to battle squirrels in the process.
after years of steaming artichokes i recently took one (after steaming it like usual), halved it and put it on the grill, serving it with a garlic aioli - it was heaven.
It is dinner time right now and I am just waiting for the chicken to cook....those artichokes with LEMON BUTTER SOUND OUT OF THIS WORLD RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
I have never had a veggie garden, but I sure love having my herbs at hand for fresh basil pesto!
Dearest one, thank you for your visit and kind comment; how wonderful to know that you look forward to what I post....then, I am doing what I desire...to make my readers want to see what I am thinking. THANK YOU!

There really is nothing more rewarding than growing a garden and feeding you and your family. I've never tried artichokes and I am going to next year.
Hello Susan:
How absolutely wonderful to have your own kitchen garden and to grow artichokes is pure heaven. Or at least to eat them is!!
Artichokes in your own garden! You are an artist on that too!
The garden is gorgeous and the artichokes are beautiful. Lucky ducky you and yours. Oma Linda
