mermaid gallery: Nelson, British Columbia, Canada; I have made my way through many mediums of expression. I really honed my creative eyes while running a small gallery in a beautiful, arts town nestled on the shore of Kootenay Lake, British Columbia, Canada. After 6 years of listening to people respond to art,....... I decided to let go, tune in, and have some fun. The more fun I had painting, the quicker my paintings sold. I really don't plan much before I begin to paint. My technique is be totally intuitive. Clear, bright colours,and strong, sure line define childlike celebration.They are simple reminders to focus on happiness.

where am I coming from......

Nelson, British Columbia sparkles with spectacular scenery, an old time ambience, talented artists, and an incredibly vibrant community. People walk around with smiles on their faces. Mermaid Gallery was perched on the hillside, on the fringe of the downtown core, with a lovely view of Kootenay Lake. Many artists, tourists, and townsfolk enjoyed it's cheerful vibe. The town is very small though and during those shoulder seasons there was very little business. Online marketing seemed to be the alternative to a storefront, and during the fall of 2009 we closed Mermaid Gallery's doors....... s'alright though...because I'm still in contact with the universe here.....

why mermaid?

When I was an adventurous spirit of 19 I travelled about and came to stay in Matala, Crete. Joni Mitchell was there before me and wrote the classic ode to the times, "Carey" Let's go down to the Mermaid Cafe and I will buy you a bottle of wine............" I remember it well,..... There I found shards of ancient pottery everywhere. That ancient, weathered beauty, the fun of travel and good friends have been my inspiration. I have never forgotten where the trail began. I follow the clues......I listen to everybody...........it has taken me here.
