high water....
The Slocan River is still very high from spring runoff. The snow capped, majestic mountains of the Selkirks and Valhallas feed it's over flowing banks. Soon the snow will have melted and the river will slow down and recede...then we will be able to drop the ladder and go for a swim. Jose, our old dog, is wary of the river after he fell in on the first day here. He ran out on the little wharf and stepped right onto the water like he could walk on it. Very big surprise when he found himself in deep, fast water. He had no problem getting out of the river but it made him run in circles for awhile. Now he wades into the grassy shallows and cools off there. He stays right off the wharf..... ....careful...it's high water.....
