MAGIC...on a webcam...
No tropical holiday this year...but I can still feel the sun. This morning I went to view one of my favourite live, webcams. I follow about five different live, webcams in different tropical places. I can look and remember the smell, the sounds, and the feel of the place. It's a time travel thing. Another obsessive time waster on the computer, but I enjoy it. My sister and her husband have been on holiday on Maui and this was their last morning there. So this morning I tuned into my Maui camera. I know this camera is just down the road from where they are staying on the beach. Maui is two hours behind us so it was still dark on the webcam when I tuned in.. Dawn was not long off so I left the website up while I went for a shower. At 6:30 a. m. Maui time, I sat back down to have a look. The camera was pointed out at the water. Sometimes it sweeps the beach but this morning it is aimed off shore. I'm checking it out when I see a hump rise out of the water. Then another hump. I think it must be logs or something when a burst of spray comes up. Then I spot another spray further out. I realize then that I am watching two humpback whales. The humpback whales winter in Maui and are often spotted offshore. They are huge and an amazing sight. I watched them for probably fifteen minutes before they were gone Now what are the chances of this happening? MAGIC...on a webcam... Have a look....www.mauicondowebcam.com/ my all time favourite is at http://www.playapalms.com/ another great one at http://www.locogringo.com/ Look for beach cam .... Another good one at Margarita del Sol, Mahahual. (you'll have to google that one.) Remember to mark them as favourites so you can watch them later.....

I think that would be very exciting to see. Webcams on the Internet. Never thought of that past time. Looks like today was well worth it.
I so need to do this. Care to share your links? :)
I should try this webcam thing. I DO need a vacation! :)
Awesome painting. I love the colors in your palette and the suggestion of movement.
Thanks for the webcam link of the beach---my favorite place to be, too, is near the water. How incredible that you spotted the whales, a gift, really. We took the whale boat in San Francisco once, everyone said, "guaranteed you'll see whales"...Not so, not even one, the only thing we saw we're these big burly men leaning over the side of the boat with seasickness.
We have passed along a blogging award to you. Please see this post on our blog:

How wonderful to spot a whale on a cam!
If you want another webcam - this one you can control yourself - just google "Tauranga webcam". There's one at the beach and one around the bay at the marina.
Actually because I did a post about them once, it seems to often come up with my blog as top of the search list too! :o)
