how green is our valley... and mountain too.......

built into the mountain side, almost every home in Nelson has a great view......
our views are magnificent......
We  whine a lot when the weather is bad.....but this is why we live here....and it gets better every day now.......( whining usually starts in January and lasts until April )  About now, everybody starts smiling....( by the way, the movie, "Roxanne" with Steve Martin was filmed in Nelson...)

west coast beach....

The tide was higher than we had ever seen it.  A gull turned to us and showed us his catch. None of us knew that gulls eat starfish.  A walk on a wet, windy, west coast beach.

snow hats....

Sure, snow is pretty...I'm really trying to love it like I used to......back in the days when we were avid, enthusiastic, down hill and cross country skiers.....Where did all that enthusiasm disappear?  I still get out there and ski but the enthusiasm just isn't the same........now, all I can think about is a tropical holiday....a place where nobody is wearing .......snow hats......

sweet snow....familiar quiet.....

I spent the last few days in White Rock taking my mother to various doctor appointments. It was scary. Too many people going to too many doctors. How do we pay for it all? I came home  determined to be responsible for my own health and destiny.....oh, it was good to get home......sweet snow....familiar quiet.....

floored.....

girls on holidaze....

ole!
tree trunk legs and fancy shoes.....
" Two for one margaritas",  is always worth pursuing in a resting spot, especially when there is a South American flute player entertaining a happy crowd. Everybody laughed when the waiter deposited two tasty drinks in front of each of them. Two for one, means two each,  amigos. Then if you order another round...yup, two each again. Later that night the hotel manager taught them another local saying, " one tequila, two tequila, three tequila, FLOOR!.....

she whose garden grows......

It has been dreary, rainy and grey here,........ yet this morning dawned warm and sweet smelling........ I remembered in a clay class long ago,  the teacher asking us to invent our native names..... and then do a series of work with that name. The teacher's chosen name was, "she of tensile strength."....... I chose as my name,.... " she whose garden grows."...... There were a couple of students in the class that refused to do this project as they thought it was too flakey. I think this is a great exercise to personalize your work. Working in series gives the work room to develop. I probably would change my name to something else now...something more like..."she who yearns for sunshine..." or "she who needs a holiday.."  But that long ago series comes back time and time again in my work. .....she whose garden grows......
